December 18 Joseph's final basketball game of the seasonHe still hasn't scored since he sunk the very first basket of the season many weeks ago, but he did take a couple of good shots during the final game and was later nicknamed "Mr. Defense" by his coach at the team pizza party, where he received a nice medal for his efforts. Hopefully, his offense will improve next season. The kids scooteringIt's great to see Joseph and Sophia cooperating and having fun together for a change! And, of course, Isabel copies everything that her older siblings do no matter how dangerous it might be for her very young age. Lastly, I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing for Joseph to have such a speed demon in him. We'll see how fast he can go when he starts his skiing lessons in January. November 13 Joseph's final soccer game of the seasonThis past Saturday, Joseph had his final soccer game. We’ve been very lucky in not having to cancel a single game due to bad weather, especially during the past few weeks. November 10 Pictures of Joseph's 2nd grade basketball teamLast Saturday was picture day for Joseph’s basketball team, so I took a couple of snapshots while everyone was together. October 29 Joseph playing basketballJoseph had another long day yesterday with a soccer game at 8:30AM and a basketball game at 4PM. It was good to hear his basketball coach say how much he has improved over last year. His defense is very good – I took a couple of really good shots of him defending. I don’t think his opponent scored a single basket, but then neither did he. J I really need to help him with his shooting.
Even with the new camera, moving objects in low night remain extremely difficult to photograph clearly. Still, I think that I took a pretty good action shot of Joseph running down the court. October 08 Picture Day for Joseph's soccer team The weather here in Bellevue continues to be surprisingly great -- continuous days of sunshine with practically no rain though the air is definitely more crisp and chilly. Today's was Picture Day for Joseph's soccer team, and the day was nearly perfect except that his team got clobbered by the Mercer Island Wolves. That team had a couple of very fast runners, and they all knew how to pass the ball very well!
Joseph also started just last week his second season with the Boys and Girls Club basketball league, so he'll be very busy over the next couple of months with 3 days of practice during the week and 2 separate games on Saturdays. September 10 Joseph's Soccer Team - Game 1On Saturday, Joseph’s soccer team, the Cherry Crest Chargers, played its first game, and he had a great time even though he seemed to be running short on breath towards the end. He has two practices each week and a game on Saturdays. It’s going to be a hectic couple of months ahead! January 31 Gone sledding againOn Sunday, the rain stopped and didn’t look like it would return for at least several hours, so I took the kids to Hyat again for some sledding, and this time Mari was able to join us since my Dad would stay home with Isabel. It was cold (about 32-33 degrees -- near freezing), but we had a blast! December 17 Sledding at Hyak in Snoqualmie Pass
My co-worker, Christian, had recommended a sno-park called Hyak near Summit at Snoqualmie as a very fun place for kids to sled, so when it snowed in Bellevue a couple of weeks ago, I promised the kids that I would take them sledding soon. Well, today was the day! The sky was clear and blue, and the weather was nippy but not very cold – probably around 46 degrees. The drive to Hyak (Exit 54 off of Hwy I-90) was incredibly easy and fast – there was very little traffic, so it took less than 45 minutes! Compared to the 4 hour drive to Lake Tahoe when we were back in the Bay Area, this is much more convenient and a trip that I can probably do every other weekend.
Needless to say, the kids had a great time. Joseph sled down the hill, walked up the hill, sled down the hill, walked up the hill .. for about 90 minutes straight! December 04 Wow, it's actually snowing! My coworkers have told me that it rarely snows in Bellevue. Well, it snowed this past Thursday, and the kids loved it. Apparently, they had snow fights at their respective schools. So, December 1, 2005 was definitely a day to remember. It's also a reminder for me to start planning our trips to the Snoqualmie ski resorts, which are less than an hour's drive away. |
